Bowen Island

Bowen Island is a perfect destination for people wishing to get away from the rush of a big city and plunge into unsoiled wild nature. The island is only 20 minutes away on a ferry or a boat from Vancouver, but once you traveled this short distance you may get under an impression that you’ve crossed to another dimension – this is how colossally different, calmer and more laid back the island is compared to urbanized areas not so far away.

The island can offer you the most outstanding views and cleanest air one might wish for. You are welcome to hike, go kayaking, fishing, swimming, cycling, snorkeling, you name it! In warmer seasons you are advised to explore sandy beaches and work on your tan. The island is perfect for people looking for very different things – you can find both the peace and quiet and an extreme adventure there.

The place is of course no desert, so attractions for tourists are provided. Have you ever been whale watching? Have you seen bald eagles? Or are you more of a golf or skiing fan? All of that and more are waiting for you. The island is also famous for its inhabitants being especially artistic and in touch with nature. A piece of local natural art may be a perfect souvenir.

Once you are bored with fresh air and nature, Vancouver is just around the corner – you can pop out for clubbing, shopping and what have you and go back to the island to relax.
